Define the recurring problem
“I am not progressing” combines different problems. Identify the stage that fails: preparation, start, riding or finish. Note whether it affects both directions and starts immediately or after a while. This precision makes an in-lesson assessment easier.
Separate outcome from cause
Falling is an outcome, not an explanation. Avoid deciding alone that you need another board or a larger kite. An instructor can assess coordination, understanding and suitability of conditions before attributing the problem to equipment.
Change one thing at a time
Agree on one priority for a short practice block and a way to review the outcome. Constantly changing the instruction makes patterns difficult to identify. Pausing to explain your understanding can help more than accumulating repetitions without a clear question.
Finish with a decision
Request a specific recommendation: continue the exercise, revisit a prerequisite or schedule a different refresher. Record the reason. Progress also means understanding a limitation and what to work on, even when no new manoeuvre appears that afternoon.
