Different from an assisted land launch
Relaunching from the water presents a different situation from launching with assistance on land. Equipment condition, kite position and surroundings affect the decision. A demonstration that works in one situation is not a universal procedure for every fallen kite.
What to assess with your instructor
Before practising, understand the signals and when to stop trying. During teaching, recognising the situation, following the exercise and reporting unclear instructions matter. Repeating a movement seen in a video is not proof of independence.
Equipment matters too
Models and configurations may behave differently. When changing equipment, request familiarisation with its systems and consult the manufacturer’s documentation. Having relaunched a kite before does not remove that need when renting a different setup.
Record your progress accurately
Note the conditions you practised in and how much assistance you received. If it happened once with continuous instructions, record that. This helps another school choose the next exercise without assuming an isolated demonstration means the skill is consistent.
